As you suspected, the cease fire is back in place. At least for now. I remember reading somewhere that Iran had enough enriched uranium to make 9 bombs. I didn't think much of it at the time. Someone knows how much they have and with all the surveillance techniques and double/triple agents out there, I spend little time trying to figure out if it's an accurate statement. We certainly have made a mess of many things in the past. We meaning our President, congress, advisors and all the ngo types who are up to their elbows in the cookie jar and I know some of it will never end. In the meantime, I am not unhappy with what has been going on these past 4 days. I read Coffee & Covid and think Jeff's understanding of things is better than most who write daily as he does. I'm hoping the Iranian citizens who hate living under the captivity of a repressive regime will be able to some how pull off a coup. That 80/20 split I hear about seems like the time is right but when the 20 is a military that is faithful to their supreme leader, I can see the problems. They will need help. As you point out, our help doesn't always produce the desired results. History is being made. It's exciting and hopes are high.
Many of the other Arab/Muslim states may not love or even like Israel, but they have figured out how to co-exist. Some have determined that cooperation is better business than warfare. Getting Iran to that point is the obvious hurdle. I imagine millions in that country will cheer any strike at the mullahs or govt leadership. It's easy for us to say 'Well, they should just revolt," but that's not action, it's a suicide mission. I'm a little more in the Trump camp, what with the cease-fire and a re-emergence of the guy who does not like the killing. I'm not sure I have seen a conflict quite like this one before, with things happening so fast.
